David G. Rand

As of 2024, David Rand is the Erwin H. Schell Professor and Professor of Management Science and Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT, the director of the Applied Cooperation Initiative, and an affiliate of the MIT Institute of Data, Systems, and Society, and the Initiative on the Digital Economy. David received his B.A. in computational biology from Cornell University in 2004 and his Ph.D. in systems biology from Harvard University in 2009, and was a post-doctoral research in Harvard University’s psychology department from 2009 to 2013 before joining Yale, where he was an associate professor of Psychology, Economics, and Management at Yale University, a member of the Yale Institute for Network Science, Institution for Social and Policy Studies, and Cognitive Sciences Program, and the director of Yale University’s Human Cooperation Laboratory and Applied Cooperation Team.
