Sam Southgate
Samuel Southgate is a fourth year PhD student in the Department of Sociology at Yale. With interests lying at the intersection of medical sociology and social theory, his dissertation project examines illness narratives among voice hearers. Within the Human Nature Lab, he works closely with Nicholas A. Christakis as Course Associate and Head Teaching Fellow for the latter’s popular Yale undergraduate class, ‘Health of the Public: Medicine and Disease in Social Context’. Originally from the UK, Sam holds degrees in philosophy (University of York, UK), Middle Eastern studies (School of Oriental and African Studies, UK), political science (Yale), and sociology (Yale).
