Coren L. Apicella

Coren Apicella is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. She studies both hunter-gatherers and Westerners to explore the proximate and evolutionary origins of human behavior. She holds a PhD in Biological Anthropology from Harvard University and an MS in Evolutionary Psychology from the University of Liverpool.

Prior to her position at the University of Pennsylvania she was working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Human Nature Lab.

Professor Apicella’s work specializes in mate selection and attraction, behavioral endocrinology, behavior genetics, sex differences, behavioral economics, evolutionary psychology and social networks and the evolution of cooperation. Her research has been featured in media outlets worldwide, including BBC, CNN, Nightline and the New York Times.
